Eternity

Chapter One

Ignoring the heavily falling rain from above, I briskly walked through the woods. There was something calling me out here. What or who it was, I didn’t have the slightest clue. I came to a middle of a clearing in the woods, where the rain seemed to lighten. I was reluctant to let my guard down even though I sensed that I was alone.

I carefully looked around the clearing, searching for something, even though I didn’t know what I was searching for. The calling dissolved slowly as I continued to look around. When the calling was gone I turned around to trek back home.

Home… I wasn’t one of those people that had an actual knowledge of the word. I was one that really took the saying, “The home is where the heart is,” seriously. I never lived anywhere long enough to be able to call it “home.”

Walking down the path back to the new Victorian Style house my mother just purchased for “us” to live in. Knowing that I was going to be the main person living in the house my mother let me design and decorate it. For the outside I painted the walls a dark gray with a blue tint to it. The wooden paneling on the sides of the house was painted a lighter shade of the blue-gray. The interior was painted a dark crimson red with plushy, black carpet. Every room was designed with a certain degree of “Gothic Elegance” so that people outside of the sub-culture would still be comfortable.

Since I put so much excruciating time and effort into designing the house, I hoped that my mother would allow me to keep this house. I had an unstable life with her being a model, I didn’t want to worsen it the last two years of high school I had.

My unknown father, on the other hand, worsened it even more. He abandoned my mother before I was born. I guess he wasn’t ready to be a father. During the entire 16 years of my life, I have never seen a picture of my mother with another man. I couldn’t even remember her even mention his name. I felt an empty void in my heart that I longed for it to be filled. I figured it was the part of me that longed for the father figure in her life. But later, I would find out that wasn’t what I was longing.

I gently opened the two twin doors to the expectant empty house. Like I had predicted, my mother was gone again. I knew she wouldn’t be back for some time. I released a disconsolate sigh of buried disappointment before heading towards the kitchen to make myself something to eat. As I waited for my food I went to the bathroom to wash off the make-up I never allowed anyone to see me without, not even my own mother. Years ago, I was granted the release of the stereotypical people that judged me because I was Goth. I’m glad that I have it now.

Finishing my food, I stalked up my spiral stairs to my bedroom and laid down on my bed. No sooner had I closed my eyes, I heard something at my window. I opened my eyes as I tilted my head to look to the window. There was nothing making the noise except a branch tapping against my window. I shrugged, closing my eyes and turning onto my side again, attempting to get a good night’s sleep before the first day of North Manson High tomorrow.
